Counseling sessions can be provided in a traditional face-to-face format or through telehealth.
We are happy to talk with you about which format works best for you!
Children and Adolescents:
Individual counseling sessions for children and adolescents are tailored to their developmental ages and interests. These sessions are highly relational and incorporate behavioral, play, and expressive therapies as a way of helping young people better process their experiences. Individual sessions for children and adolescents will sometimes involve family counseling sessions, as true growth and change in the life of a child often requires other family members to grow as well.
Individual Adults:
Adult individual counseling is focused on moving toward a life of flourishing by exploring who we are and who we want to become. Most often these sessions are conducted in a talk therapy format. Expressive therapies and mindfulness may be used to help the individual connect in a way that is sometimes not possible through talking alone. The counselor provides support, reflection, feedback, and resources, while the individual is encouraged to lead and take ownership of his/her counseling process. This type of therapy can be helpful for addressing specific mental health disorders (such as anxiety and depression), life adjustments, and also for growing in self awareness and confidence.
Family Counseling
Family Counseling focuses on healing relational brokenness between family members. Each family participates in discussions and interactive strategies tailored to their needs in order to grow in empathy and understanding for each other. Common growth areas include communication, conflict resolution, parenting, life adjustments, loss, and developing connection.
Premarital Counseling
Premarital counseling is designed to be 6-8 weeks in length, and focuses on preparing couples for marriage. Couples will complete an assessment to highlight growth areas in the relationship. Based on the assessment, the counselor will design 6-8 sessions that are focused on addressing the unique needs of the couple. These sessions help address the expectations and needs of each partner, as well as grow communication regarding life planning, boundaries, and finances.
